Getting to Know You 01/31 - Better Late Than Never, Right?

It's time for some more fun "Getting to Know You" questions, compliments of Keely

1. Do you iron your sheets?
Umm... NO!  To each his (or her) own, but seems like a waste of perfectly good (& valuable) time to me!

2. Your dream car is....?
I really enjoy my car.  It's a Chevy Tahoe loaded with most of the perks.  I haven't really dreamed about another car so I can't really answer this question.

3. Do you have an innie or an outie belly button?
Innie.

4. What meal do you look forward to the most..breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
Honestly?  How bout all of them!  That's my problem! ;)

5. Favorite mascara?
Neutrogena Healthy Volume.

6. What would you say your decorating style is..traditional, modern, eclectic, country, french country, shabby chic, etc..?
I'm not sure what my style would be called.  I guess more modern with a little bit of country thrown in. What is that called? A mess? LOL

7. Have you ever been skinny dipping?
No.

8. I hate the smell of...?
A lot of things.  Currently my most hated smell is dog urine!

Summary Saturday 01/30

It's Summary Saturday again.  This week I am inviting you to join me in posting a bulleted summary of your week. Please be sure to include the button (you can find the code in my sidebar) and remind everyone to hop back over here to see what everyone else has been up to this week.
  • The week started out great with a fabulous Saints win in the playoffs.  We are not originally from Louisiana, but transplanted.  We aren't even really football fans.  Since we are here we are jumping on the bandwagon to cheer them on.  Go Saints!
  • My oldest son surprised us by asking if he could attend the Prison Ministry that our church does on Sunday nights.  Of course we said yes!  He said that he really enjoyed it and wants to go back.
  • Spent the first part of the week carting my daughter to various doctors to try and figure out why she is having pain in her hip and knee.  She broke her hip playing softball this summer and has not been very physically active since.  Softball started back at school just after the holidays and since then she has had a good amount of pain in that hip and knee.  So we took her back to orthopedist and he took x-rays and said everything looks good.  He has no idea why she is in pain.  He gave us some pain management techniques to follow and we are hoping that the pain will improve as her body adjusts back to this level of physical activity.
  • On Thursday my oldest got his driver's license.  Yikes!  Can't believe I'm old enough to have a child that is driving.  I'm so not ready for this.  Guess it's just one more thing to keep me on my knees!
What happened in your family this week?  I'd love to hear!  You can share in the comments or link up with Mr. MckLinky below.

Five Question Friday 01/29

It's time for Five Question Friday again.
My Little Life
1. Would you ever vacation alone?
Umm... I wouldn't mind it if it were only for a couple of days, but for an entire vacation? Nah, I'd rather have my family with me!

2. Do you go the speed limit?
I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it might be used again me by my newly licensed teenage son. Yes that's right my oldest got his license just yesterday.  I'll take all the prayer you want to send my way.  Thanks!

3. Why did you start blogging/following blogs?
I think it started as an outlet for me as a pastor's wife back in 2005.  It still is an outlet and now it also serves as a journal for keeping memories for my family.  I am also finding some very encouraging relationships through the blogging world.

4. Where do you shop for yourself?
One of my favorite places to shop is Cato.  I also love to shop at second hand stores.  I hate paying full price for anything.

5. What was the song that you danced your first dance with your spouse to at your wedding...or...what song would you like your first dance to be to?
I am really sad to admit this, but I don't remember what song we first danced to.  That was almost 20 years ago.  I can remember the songs played during the ceremony, but not the dance.  Guess it's time to dust off the wedding video and take a peek again.

Fill In The Blank Friday: Birthday Edition

I'm so glad it's Friday.  I think it's fitting that today's Fill In The Blank Friday is a birthday edition because my birthday just happens to be coming up in a few weeks!  Thanks to the Unexperienced Mom for hosting!

PhotobucketFor my birthday, the one dessert I want to enjoy the most is:________
I think my first choice for a birthday dessert would be my mom's home made red velvet cake with home made cream cheese frosting.  BUT since my mom lives in Florida and I am in Louisiana I don't think that's gonna happen.  So I think my second choice would be a piece of Bananas Foster Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory (hint, hint for those of you who may be making plans for my birthday;) )

Working Mommy Wednesday 01/27

It's time again for Working Mommy Wednesday.

Today's question is...
What one (or two, or three, or four....) household chores do you loathe?

Let's make this as clear as possible... I loathe pretty much ALL housework.  The chore that I loathe the most would be washing dishes. Whether it be washing them by hand or with the dishwasher, either way I loathe washing dishes.  Coming in a close second would be cleaning the tubs and showers.

How about you?  What chore do you loathe?

Two Things I Love 01/26

I have seen this blog hop a few times and I always love seeing everyone's favorite things. Today I thought I'd post a couple of mine. Thanks to Kassi for hosting!

This beautiful cross was a gift from my secret pal at church.

Sorry the picture is a little crooked.  I was trying to get it from an angle so that there wouldn't be a glare. This picture hangs over our fireplace.  I have always just loved this picture.  I get lots of compliments on it. It's not really crooked on my wall.  I promise! ;)

The Simple Woman's Daybook January 25th

Found this neat idea for a Monday Journal over at The Simple Woman's Daybook. It looked like fun so I thought I'd give it a try.

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... The sun is shining and it's about 55 degrees. It's a little windy, but otherwise a beautiful day.
I am thinking... it's going to be a busy week.
I am thankful for...so many things. My husband and my children. My job. My home. My church. And the list goes on. I am specifically thankful today for the job that I have been blessed with. Having a job where it is permissible to take time off to take your children to the doctor, etc. is a wonderful thing!
From the kitchen... leftovers from the weekend. Lots of finger food leftover from the game yesterday. Meatball subs, pizza, dip, chips, crackers. It will soon be time to grocery shop again. Looking for inexpensive, easy meals for my family. Any suggestions?
I am wearing... Jeans and sweater.
I am creating... a blog post ;)
I am going... to dinner with a friend this evening.
I am reading... the Bible.
I am hoping... that the pain my daughter is experiencing in her hip is nothing major and that she will continue to be able to play softball with no problems. Will know more about this after our visit to the doctor tomorrow.
I am hearing... the sounds of the heater in my office and the click of the keyboard as I type.
Around the house... it's a mess. Chose to spend the weekend away with my husband instead of cleaning and doing laundry and I'm not at all sorry!
One of my favorite things... This week one of my favorite things is my new can opener. It may not seem like a big deal, but when you use can foods a lot it is!
A few plans for the rest of the week: Doctors appointments, work, exercise, laundry, making save the dates for my hubby's graduation, & time with my family.

Getting to Know You 01/24

It's time for our Sunday Getting to Know You questions.  Thanks to Keely for hosting!

1. Waffles, pancakes or french toast?
Umm...pancakes if they are moist and not dry.
2. Dream home..What would it look like?
It would take entirely too long to describe in detail what the ultimate dream house would look like so I'll just say that I am very happy with the house we are living in now.  We live in a parsonage and it is very nice.  Of course there would be a few things that I would cater to our needs, but overall it's great.
3. Favorite sport to watch during the Winter Olympics?
I've always loved watching ice skating.  Guess it has to do with my love of dancing.  I saw this year that they are going to have ice dancing.  Should be interesting!
4. The first word that comes to mind when describing yourself?
Probably... predictable.
5. Dresses, pants (jeans, leggings, etc.) or skirts?
Mostly pants, although I love dresses and skirts too.  But mostly I wear pants.
6. What is your favorite time of day?
I'm really not sure.  I wouldn't say mornings, cuz I am totally not a morning person.  I guess it's probably the time after dinner when I get to spend time with my kids and husband.
7. Beach or Mountains..which do you prefer?
Beach
8.Will you watch the Super Bowl?
After that game tonight?  OF COURSE!  Go Saints!!

Summary Saturday on Sunday

This weeks summary is going to be pretty short.  I didn't get to post my week end summary yesterday, so I'm doing it today.  I did put together a button (although I'm not sure I'm totally happy with it) and hopefully next week I'll be better prepared and I can make it a blog hop for others who may want to post a summary of their week.

This week was fairly uneventful.  Tuesday my hubby started his last semester of seminary.  He will be graduating in May! YES!  So proud of you honey and all that you have accomplished!!! You are doing a great job!!

This weekend my husband and I were invited to go to a retreat for pastors and their wives.  We had a great time.  They blessed us with some delicious food and some inspirational speakers.  I took a few pictures and I hope to get them posted soon.

On a totally different front I have been really doing well with my exercise this week.  I managed to get in four days of at least 30 minutes of cardio, plus I was able to get in some additional exercise while we were gone.  We explored a historical sight and we walked all around the grounds at the retreat.  I didn't do too bad with my eating this week either.  For whatever reason I only managed to loose one pound.  But that's ok.  I will persevere.  Hopefully this week will be better.

Hope everyone else had a great week!

Five Question Friday 01/22

I am enjoying having a great time with my husband at our retreat.  We spent the entire day together and now we are waiting for dinner time.  So I thought I'd hop on a answer today's questions for Five Question Friday.
My Little Life
1. What is better, growing old with out money or dying young and wealthy?
I am currently growing old without money and I'm happy, so I'd say growing old without money.  Besides who wants to die young.
2. Who takes out the garbage at your house?
This chore is assigned to our teenage son.  If for some reason he is not there then my husband does it.  If neither of them are there, then I do it.  But that is very rare.
3. Have you ever had the same dream many times?
My dad died when I was little and I used to have the same dream all the time that he was still alive and we were having fun together like we did before he died.  I haven't had this dream in a while, but every time I do it feels so real.
4. Can you play a musical instrument?
Nope.  Nothing.  Nada.
5. If you owned your own store, what would you sell?
I love books and have always thought I'd love to have a book store.  If not then probably a scrapbook store.

Shoot Me! 3 of 52

Forever In Blue Jeans

Ok, so I may be cheating a little by using some of my pictures from Christmas.  But I thought this one was fitting seeing how this weekend my hubby and I are going away on a retreat this weekend!  Looking forward to some "couple time!" I will try to make it a point to post a current photo next week.

Shoot Me! It's time to stop hiding behind that camera of yours. Your family is missing you in the picture. So it's time to post a picture of YOU (yes, you) every Thursday with your child, your spouse, your friend, your dog, or even by yourself. Just get in the picture, you'll be glad you did! And just jump in now with 1 of 52, you can do it!

Working Mommy Wednesday 1/20

It's time for Working Mommy Wednesday again.  Julia has a really tough question for us this week.

As a working mom, if you suddenly became a SAHM, how do you think your life would be different?
As a SAHM, if you suddenly had to become a working mom, how would your life be different?

I long to be a stay at home mom.  However the reality is that it's not financially possible for my family to live off of just one income.  So, thankfully, I kind of have the best of both worlds.  I have a job that lets me work part time and make almost what I would make working full time.  I am able to take my kids to school and pick them up (most days).  The bottom line is that for the most part I am home when they are home.  This is a tremendous blessing for me and our family!

Now, back to the question.  How would my life be different if I could be a stay at home mom?  Well, there are a few things that would be a little different.  My house would probably be a lot cleaner.  We probably wouldn't be digging through baskets of clean clothes. Instead they might be folded and put away.  We would probably have more home cooked meals.  Although, thanks to some of my bloggy friends I have gotten much better at planning ahead and getting a good meal on the table most days.  I would enjoy being able to get more exercise in that I don't feel like I have time for now.  I would also love having time home alone to spend in Bible study and prayer.

To be fair, there would also be some down sides to being at home. For instance it would probably mean less luxuries.  It would also mean that my kids would not get to participate in all the activities they do now.

At first this question made me a little sad, because it's true deep down the desire of my heart is to be home.  But after I got to looking at my life I see that I have been tremendously blessed.  Sure there are a few things that would change for the better.  But for the most part those things are still present and functioning in my life.  Just in a little different way.  The bottom line is I pray and God works it all out.

Rant & Rave Wednesday

This is something new that I just ran across over at A Little Blog About Nothing.  It's a day to post all your rants and raves from the past week.  Sounds like fun.  I only have a few since I just ran across this today, but here goes nothing...

Rave:  I love it when my children have fabulous teachers who go out of their way to make sure your children are taken care of.  My youngest son just happens to have one of those teachers this year.  It does a mother's heart good to have a wonderful teachers in her son's corner.  So thanks to Mrs. Splane for looking out for my boy!

Rant:  Someone at church was so nice (NOT) to point out the fact to me that I have recently gained some weight.  Thanks so much for pointing that out.  I'd never have noticed!

Rave:  My wonderful husband just began his last semester of seminary.  He will be graduating in May.  I am so very proud of him!  While I'm recognizing him, let me also take a minute to point you over to his BLOG.  Where he will sharing audio files of his sermons.

Rave: I managed to give myself that much needed pedicure this weekend.

Rave:  I finally managed to get all the Christmas decorations and Christmas cards taken down.  Now I only need to get them put away.

Rave:  I finally hit the double digits in comments on one of my posts from last week!!

Now, it's your turn.  What rants and raves do you have from the last week?  Be sure to link up over at A Little Blog About Nothing.

Getting to Know YOU 1/17 - With a BONUS!

It's Sunday and time again for Getting to Know You!  Thanks to Keely for providing these fun questions!

1. Hair color..Au naturale..or not?
Well, sort of! The underside is my natural color and the top is highlights.  I was gonna go back to Au naturale, but I have too much gray!
2. If somebody has food in their teeth or lipstick on their teeth do you tell them?
Depends on the person and how well I know them.  If it's someone I know well I definitely do.  If it's a stranger - no way!
3. Would you rather have a million dollars or your vision of the perfect body?
This is a hard question.  I think I'd have to say give me the million and I'd pay for surgery! I don't hate my body that bad, it just needs a little tweaking! LOL
4. Favorite magazine?
Umm... People and Simple & Delicious.
5. Bra style..lacey or plain?
I have some of both.  Depends on the occasion and what I'm wearing which kind I choose to wear.
6. If you walked into Victoria's Secret..would you most likely come out with something sexy or comfy?
Neither.  There is no way I can convince myself to spend that kind of money on undergarments.
7. Do you fake and bake?
Sometimes.  I don't do it a lot, but I do like to have a little color to me.
8. What's your favorite body part on a man?
Wow, another hard one, but I'd have to say biceps.

Now, for today's BONUS.  I thought this bonus was very fitting for today since Sundays are all about getting to know each other better.  I'd like you to meet my husband Don.  He is a pastor and preaching is one of his passions. He has decided to start a blog to post audio files of his sermons.  I hope that you will stop by and give him a warm welcome to the bloggy world.  I hope you find his sermons enlightening and uplifting. I know I do!

Summary Saturday 01/16

Since I want my blog to double as a sort of family scrapbook I'm gonna start on Saturdays doing a post that summarizes some of the happenings of our week.  I'm thinking of making it a blog hop so that if anyone else wants to participate they can.  I think I'll call is Summary Saturdays.  I'm gonna be working on a button and hopefully will kick off the blog hop next Saturday.  I realize there are a few others that do something like this, but not any that I know of that do it on Saturday.  Let me know if you think you might be interested in joining me.

  • The week started off a little rocky with me still trying to recover from some kind of cold/sinus/throat junk and school being canceled for my kids because of broken water lines.  School was called off for Monday and Tuesday and then they asked for the kids to report back on Wednesday morning.  I dropped my kids off on Wednesday morning only to later find out that the school had ordered port-o-potties and they had not arrived and been set up on time so my kids were at school for the first three hours with NO bathrooms and no water.  To say I was an unhappy momma when I found this out was an understatement.  The water was finally fixed toward the end of the week and now school (I am happy to report) has returned to normal.
  • We are having some issues with M's softball coach who was pushing her really hard at practice this week despite the fact that she had a hip fracture at the end of the summer and has been having some pain in her hip. It's really hard at this age to know when to step in and intervene and when to let them learn how to handle things on their own.  "M" asked us to let her handle it and so we are waiting and watching for now.
  • Every couple of days I will think, "Oh, I'm finally starting to feel back to normal."  Then it seems I relapse a little.  I really thought on Friday that I was finally coming out of this mess.  This morning I woke up and my face was so swollen and my sinuses really congested.  You know it must be really bad when friends comment, "Are you ok?" just at the sight of your swollen face.
  • Even amongst the somewhat difficult week I managed to have a night out with my girl friends (which helped tremendously) and I made it to a breakfast with some of the ladies from our church.  It's amazing how encouraging it can be to spend time with friends!
  • I got an awesome compliment from my sweet husband, who had just been perusing my blog.  He said I am a good writer and I should write a book.  Think he may be a little biased, but what an encouragement!
  • Last, and most certainly not least I purchased a new (to me) treadmill.  I have wanted a treadmill for a long time.  We were weighing  the option of joining a gym.  But the gym is so far away that with the added expense of gas it was just too much.  So we opted to invest in the treadmill instead.  I bought it (barely) used off of craigslist and got it for less than half the retail price.  I will use this in correlation with my other workout videos to hopefully develop a good exercise routine.  I do have one question I wonder if any of you might be able to answer.  It has a reading rack.  Can you really read while walking on the treadmill??  I haven't tried it yet.  I just wondered if any of you have been successful at doing it?

It's Friday

It's Friday and time for the fun Five Question Friday.
My Little Life

1. Worst trouble you ever got into as a teenager?
Are you serious?  I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it might incriminate me be used against me as a defense.  Have you forgotten that I have TWO (about to be THREE) teenagers in my house?  I can, however, tell you (because my kids already know this) that I was married at the age of 16.  'Nuff said!

2.
Are you a morning person or a night person?
I am definitely a night owl.  If I operated in my body's own natural rhythm I'd stay up late and get up late.  I guess I get it honestly though because my mom is a night owl too.  I've managed to pass the genes on to my oldest two, but the youngest takes after his father, he's an early bird.

3.
Are you a one-handed or a two-handed Texter?
Two handed, and I LOVE texting!

4.
Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is).
I am registered as a Republican.  I am a conservative, which most of the time falls under the lines of the Republican party.   But most recently I am pretty much anti-politics.  Politics seems to be ruining our country.

5.
Are you a pet person?

Well, I never have been a pet person (because of all the reasons that Mama M. gave and more).  Then we got Taz.  He's our adorable pooch.  Wish I had a picture to share (I will have to rectify that soon).  I'm afraid I have fallen in love with Taz.  Oh, and he knows better than to lick me or stick his wet nose to me.  He learned that really fast! ;)

I also came across this really fun Friday Bloghop.  It's The (Un)Experienced Mom's Fill in the Blank Friday.
Photobucket

Today's question is...

If I had to choose only one modern technology to have (i.e. television, phone, microwave, computer/Internet, etc), it would be _________.

Again, I will use one my teenager's favorite phrases. "Are you serious?" If I had to choose only one modern technology to have I'd rather you just shoot me and put me out of my misery! I am a total technology junky.  I guess if I was forced to choose, I'd say my laptop, but it'd have to have internet connected.  That way I could keep in touch with everyone through the net and watch tv and have a way to watch movies, etc.

Want to participate in all the Friday fun?  Be sure to hop on over to these two ladies lovely blogs (just click on the buttons).  You won't be sorry!

Shoot Me 2 of 52 & National Delurking Day

Forever In Blue Jeans

It's week 2 of our 52 week Shoot Me! challenge.  The challenge is to take a photo of you (yes, you) with a child, spouse, friend, or even by yourself and share it on your blog.

This is me and my baby brother.  I am so thankful to have such a close relationship with my brother.  He is one of my biggest supporters and encouragers.  We can talk about anything.  Even though we live states apart it is nice to know that he is only a phone call away.  I am truly blessed!

I've also noticed that it's National Delurking Day.  So all you readers who don't comment please come out of lurkdom and let me know you are there.  Oh, and what a better way to come out of lurkdom than to become a follower!  Either way let me know you are around so I can come by and show you how much I appreciate you!

Working Mommy Wednesday - A Little Late

I missed posting my answer to the question for Working Mommy Wednesday (what you know with work and all ;))  But I thought it was a really fun question and so I'm going to answer it anyway.  Better late than never, right?

Yesterday's question was...

What song do you always find yourself singing at the top of your lungs when you're in the car all by yourself?
Well... I would say it would depend on the day, maybe even the hour or the minute.   Let me explain.  I LOVE music.  Almost all kinds of music.  I have this thing about liking the ability to understand the words, so that does leave some music out.  But for the most part I love almost every genre.  I grew up listening to country music so country is one of my favorites.  I guess you could say it's in my blood.  I listen to it a lot.  But I also love contemporary Christian, pop, rock, you name it.  I'm also known to be one of those incessant channel changers.  I won't sit and listen to talk and if the song that comes on is not one that I like, then I will find one.  I never realized how much this could get on someones nerves until I noticed that my daughter grew up to be just like me... a channel changer.   Needless to say, I could be found listening to a variety of different types of songs at any given time.  I do, however, know what Julia is talking about when she says what song do you find yourself singing at the top of your lungs when you are alone in the car.  It's that song that grabs you and won't let you go.  This changes frequently for me.

Right now the one that has caught my attention is Josh Turner's Why Don't We Just Dance.  Wanna hear it?  Here ya go...

It's so fun and makes you want to just dance.  And since we all know I have the soul of a dancer, (Remember here?) I just LOVE this song.  That's my current favorite, but just ask me again tomorrow and it may have changed!

Wordless Wednesday & Working Mommy Wednesday

Hi!  I'm feeling a lot better than I was last week, but this junk is still hanging on.  Can't wait to for it to let loose so that I can get back to normal (whatever that is)!

Here's my pic for Wordless Wednesday...

This is our house on our Snow Day in 2008.
What makes it even more interesting is that we live in Southeast Louisiana!

Today is Working Mommy Wednesday over at Julia's blog and I am the featured working mommy!  So be sure to stop by and check out what I have to say about being a working mommy.  One tip that I wanted to add for all you working moms that I don't think I mentioned in that interview is to make your crockpot one of your best friends!  My crockpot is a tremendous help in feeding my family.  It always makes me feel so good to know I have a good hot meal ready for my family at the end of the day.  It's a bonus that it doesn't take much time to throw in the ingredients.  So you get a two for one.  Extra time to do the other things you have on that huge "to do" list AND food for your family!  Thanks to Julia for hosting Working Mommy Wednesday.  Us working mommys can use all the support we can get!

Truthful Tuesdays 01/12

I think I am finally on the mend!!  Thank God! Which is a good thing since my kids have not had school since last Thursday.  Apparently some pipes froze or burst or something and they are having a hard time getting the water fixed.  Needless to say all my kids have managed to do while they were out of school is dirtying our house.  While I am working today they are supposed to be cleaning.  I'm sure they'd rather be at school.  Hopefully they'll be back at school tomorrow.  Otherwise they'll still be in school when June rolls around.

Anyways, back to why I really came here.  It's time for Truthful Tuesdays. Thanks to Elizabeth over at Confessions From a Working Mom for providing these entertaining questions!

Today's question is...
What talent do you wish you have...
but don't?
I have always loved to sing.  I have the physical ability to sing.  I only wish I had the talent to sing well!  You know the kind of singing that people actually like to listen to?  Yeah, that's what I dream of.  I've always loved music.  So it probably wouldn't come as any surprise if anyone were to find out I would love to be a talented singer.

The desire that I think may shock some people would be the fact that deep inside of me is the soul of a dancer!  I would absolutely love to be able to dance!  But alas, my physical body does not line up with the desires of my heart.  I may very well be one of the least graceful people of all time.  Maybe when I get to heaven I'll be able to worship through dance.  Until then, I will live vicariously (much to my family's dismay) by watching all those dancing shows on tv.

Not Me Monday 01/11

It's time for Not Me Monday again.  You know the time when we do NOT confess to all those things too embarrassing to mutter.

I really didn't think I had anything to NOT confess this week.  While reading what everyone else did not do this week it reminded me of a few things I definitely did NOT do.

I did NOT go out to start my car a few minutes before time to leave this morning to let it warm up, letting the dog escape the house in the process.  After I finished getting ready for work I did NOT search frantically all over the house for my car keys, which I would only realize after searching the house over twice! Nope, not me! *blush*  I did NOT leave my husband to try and catch the dog in the cold and get him back in the house so that I would not be any later to work than I already was. In my defense, I have not been terribly sick and sleep deprived due to said sickness.  I did NOT purposefully knock myself out with medicine last night in hopes of getting a full nights sleep.  As a result I did not wake up with the fog brain this morning.

Last, but certainly not least on my list of things I did NOT do.  It was certainly not me who laid around all week last week and watched my house be taken over my dirt and clutter.  I was not sitting around watching tv and feeling helpless while dirty dishes piled up and the laundry began to take over.  And it was certainly NOT me who gratefully allowed my husband to help me catch up the house and the laundry after he returned home from an out of town class for school.  I would never do that after being home a good part of the week since I was too sick to work.  I am most certainly NOT married to the best husband in the world!  Thanks honey!

Getting to Know YOU 1/10

It's time again for Getting to Know YOU.  Thanks to Keely for hosting!

1. If you were stranded on a desert island and could pick one person to be stranded with you..Who would you pick? Family members not included.
Of course my number one pick would be my husband.  He takes such good care of me.  Otherwise I'd just have to leave it up to chance.  I couldn't choose.
2. Do you read celebrity gossip?
Yes, when I run across it, but I don't seek it out.
3. Favorite show you're waching this season?
Wow, just one huh?  Well, I'd have to say Biggest Looser, because it's the only show that I watch that has started for this season.
4. How tall are you?
5 ft 4 inches
5. What was the last book you read?
I don't remember the name.  Some fiction romance.
6. Flats or heels?
Both.  Depends on the outfit and what kind of mood I'm in.
7. If you had to choose one natural disaser to go through, what would you choose..Earthquake, Tornado, or Hurricane?
Definitely hurricane.  You get plenty of warning and time to prepare.  Plus, I've always lived where hurricanes frequent so I've had lots of practice in preparing and living through them.
8. Thong, panties, or (gasp) granny panties?
Well... it depends... most times panties and on occasion when I want to be really comfy I put on my cotton granny panties.  But I have to say that if my husband had a say it would probably be thongs.

I Should Be Sleeping

I should be sleeping but thanks to this stupid sickness I'm awake.  I was sleeping peacefully and then the coughing started.  Since my hubby has to work tomorrow I thought I'd better get out of the bedroom and let him continue sleeping.  So I moved into the living room and once the coughing subsided I tried to get back to sleep.  My mind & body had other ideas.  First I started thinking about how my house needs some redecorating.  I was thinking about what color(s) I'd like to paint the living room.  Then I started thinking about ideas for blog posts.  After about 45 minutes of laying on the couch in the dark with my throat and head hurting I decided to try hopping on here and catching up on some of the blogs that I follow.  Meanwhile I've got Three's Company on the tv.  I used to LOVE watching this show when I was younger. I'm thinking about trying to go back to bed.  Not sure how successful I'll be because my throat and head are killing me. I'm thinking there's going to be a trip to the doctor in my near future.  This sickness has got to GO!

Five Question Friday - Jan 8

It's time for Five Question Friday.  Thanks so much to Mama M.  for hosting this fun blog hop!

My Little Life

1. What's your "comfort food"?
That's a really good question to ask right now, seeing how I am soooo very sick!  There are so many comfort foods that I love!  Right now what sounds really good is ooey gooey - hot out of the oven chocolate chip cookies with a glass of ice cold milk!

2.
Do you send Thank You's (handwritten or email)?

Well...um... I try to.  I have the best intentions and the gratitude is definitely there.  But I do sometimes forget because life gets so busy and then I feel silly sending them after such a long time.

3.
If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

I love reality tv.  I think my first choice would be What Not to Wear.  I'd love to learn how to have better style.

4.
What is your favorite online recipe site?

I just found a blog today that I LOVE.  Brandi over at From My Kitchen to Yours does a great job at providing some very simple, but very tasty recipes and meal tips.  So glad I found her blog and can't wait to try some of the recipes that I found there!

5. If you had to choose: "Friends" or "Seinfeld"?

Umm... honestly?  Neither!  I never really became a devoted follower of either.  I will watch them on occasion if nothing else is on.  I'd have to say "Reba" or "Everybody Loves Raymond."   I guess I can relate to those more!

30 Day Shred - Day 2

That's right I managed to complete day 2 of the shred today.  Which is a big accomplishment seeing how I pretty consistently sound like I'm hacking up a lung.  I'm still sick, but I got a little encouragement from this guy...

This is my youngest son (you can tell he really needs to be shredding, right? Ha).  Who asked me this afternoon if I was going to do my workout today. He has agreed to be my workout partner.  So I agreed to give it a go.  I managed to finish strong.  Even though at times it felt like I was going to die! LOL  So nice to have someone to work out with me!

In other news, I think Mucinex is my new best friend! I am hopeful that since I don't have get up in the morning (schools are closed - praise the Lord!) that I can get a little extra R&R and hopefully I will begin the upswing of recovery.

I don't know who was more excited about school being cancelled tomorrow, me or my kids.  I am extremely happy that I don't have to wake up early and go out in the 8 degree weather to take them to school.  They were happy too until I told them that since we would all be home they could help clean the house! They aren't so excited anymore! LOL

Forever In Blue Jeans

I stumbled across this challenge over at Forever In Blue Jeans and thought it would be a great challenge to participate in this year.  The challenge is to post a picture every Thursday of yourself with a child, spouse, friend, or even by yourself. So here's my pic for this week...

This is one of my closest friends Rebecca and I just before Christmas. We are SOUL sisters!

It's Day One of the 30 Day Shred Challenge

It's day one of the 30 Day Shred Challenge and I am sick as a dog.  I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat and now I think I have the full blown flu! :(

Even though I didn't feel so great yesterday I was so excited about getting started with the shred that I decided to go ahead and get started.  Let me tell you it was pretty tough especially on the knees.  I'm feeling it in my muscles today, but it's all good. Even though I'm sore and sick I'm not going to give up.  I'm barely crawling through the day today.  As soon as I'm over the crud I'm going to be back at it.  I may be a little behind everyone else, but I am determined to finish this.

Wondering how everyone else did.   Just this little post has my energy zapped, but I hope to be around to see everyone's progress soon!

The living room.
5. Would you be grossed out if you found out your husband/boyfriend/significant other hadn't brushed their teeth for 4 days and you had been snogging (kissing) them?

New Year's Shred!

In case you wonder what I did while I was on vacation I thought I'd put your mind at ease and just show you.  THIS! This is what I did just about the entire vacation!

Thanks so much to my baby brother for getting this shot! Not really!!

Anybody else feel like this is all you did over the holidays?

As a result of my non-stop eating and the fact that my jeans are a little too tight I've decided to join Heather over at Heather's Hacienda  for the 30 Day Shred Challenge.  We are starting on January 4th.  I'm not 100% sure I know what I'm getting myself into.  But I figured I need to do something, why not give this a try? You are welcome to participate too if you'd like.  Just head on over to Heather's blog and let her know you will be joining us! I'm gonna save my thanks for Heather until I know I've survived this!  Just kidding!  Thanks Heather for challenging us to do something good for ourselves for the new year!
