Just Thursday...

Outside my window…It is beautiful outside. Nice day to be at the beach.

I am thinking…about all the families who are suffering as a result of the tornadoes and storms that have passed through the country recently.

From my kitchen…There hasn't been much activity in my kitchen lately because I had a wisdom tooth cut out on Monday and haven't felt much like cooking.

Around my house…there are a lot of boxes. The packing has begun. I hate packing, hence the procrastination that has been going on! Ha!

I am thankful for…my health and so many other things

Tomorrow I am…spending the day with my husband!

I am wearing… Jeans, a blouse, & sandals. I love sandals!

This Weekend I…need to do more packing and cleaning.

I am reading…nothing at the moment.

I am creating…nothing at the moment unless you count trash - lol. I seem to be producing a lot of that lately as I purge the things that are not needed around our house.

I am praying …for the Hargrove family as they say goodbye to a sister, daughter, & mother. A woman much too young taken by cancer.

Wee Bit Wednesday April 27th

I found this through a blog that I follow and it looks like fun so I am jumping on the bandwagon.

{one} have you ever been stuck in an elevator?
No - thank goodness! I would FREAK out.

{two} have you ever ridden on an elephant?
No way!

{three} have you ever met a well known celebrity?
Nope.

{four} do you have any food allergies?
Not that I know of

{five} do you know how to sew?
Yes, but I have not exercised this skill in some time so it is probably pretty rusty.

{six} did you get an allowance when you were young?
No, but my mom pretty much bought me whatever I wanted or needed. My husband will tell you that I was a little, ok, a LOT spoiled.

{seven} how often do you fill up your gas tank?
Usually every couple of weeks, but with the price of gas now I hate doing it even more than I used to.

{eight} have you ever been stung by a jelly fish?
No

{nine} have you ever been robbed?
Yes, I have had a bicycle stolen and money stolen while at a friends house. It's not a good feeling!

{ten} what is the worst haircut you’ve ever had?
Oh wow! That's a hard one! I'm sure I've had several styles that weren't the best choice. But I always look at it as it's just hair and will grow back if I don't like it. It's hard to know if something will look good on you until you actually try it.

Great Insight

I am a pastor's wife (I think I've mentioned that before) and I ran across this blog entry through a forum for pastor's wives that I am a part of. It has great insight into some of the things a pastor's wife (& a pastor) go through at times. I am VERY blessed to be able to say that my church does NOT treat us like this AT ALL. We have been so blessed by our current church family. As a matter of fact I consider them family.

At any rate I thought I would share this here in case there is anyone who might benefit by reading it. If you are a church member you can be a tremendous support to your pastor & pastor's wife by treating them like they are part of your family. I pray that this article may enable you to have insight into what it is like to be in ministry and that it would enable you to take steps to be a blessing to the leaders that God has called to care for you. Ask God what needs your pastor and his family may have that you could help to meet.

Why Are There So Many Angry Ministers' Wives?

Had a really good weekend. The kids were gone all day Friday and Friday night and since my husband was out of town that meant that I had the entire house to myself ALL day. I rented movies and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I can't remember the last time I had alone time. It was very nice.

I spent Saturday shopping with my daughter for a prom dress.  We finished up just about the time my husband got home from out of town and I was able to spend the evening with him.

Sunday was worship with our awesome church family followed by lunch and a nice long Sunday afternoon nap. I don't know why but Sunday afternoon naps are always the best. On Sunday night we sat down for a family supper. With my oldest teen working now and having his own car it is hard to catch up with him so we have to schedule time to spend together.

All in all a very relaxing weekend.

Dusting off the Cobwebs

"Whoooo!" That was the sound of me blowing the cobwebs off of my blog. Not only did I dust off the cobwebs I actually did a little renovating around here.  What do you think?

I have been MIA for a while. Never knew raising teenagers could be so challenging & exhausting! If you have small children, take my advice and read all the books on raising teenagers that you can get your hands on before adolescence arrives! Not that it will prepare you for the initial shock of waking up one morning and finding that your child has morphed into this foreign being that does not seem to have a brain. But at least you will have a base of knowledge to pull from.

I am so thankful to say that despite my lack of ability and knowledge in raising teens God has been very gracious and kept His hand on our kids through every situation that has come up. When I ask for wisdom and discernment He never fails to come through!

In addition to raising teens I am also preparing for a big transition coming up in the life of my family. God is moving us back to Florida! I can't say that I understand completely the reasoning behind this move at this time in our lives, but I can say that I trust God has our best interests at heart. And since He can see the big picture it is better for Him to be the one making the decisions. It's so hard to leave the friends we have made and our church family who we love dearly. The bright side of it is that we are moving back to the same area where most of our family lives (all of our immediate family). So it won't be like moving to some place completely new to us. I'm thankful for that.

Today is the first day I've had down time in a while so I'm off to watch a movie and relax. I'm hoping for a very relaxing weekend & I hope you have one too!

Back to School

Today it's back to school for my three kiddos. I always make them take pictures the first day of school and they hate it. But they know the drill and know that I'm not going to take no for an answer so they have learned not to fight me. Still doesn't mean they look too thrilled. See what I mean?
I got a little emotional as I dropped them off for school this morning. I think it all started last night when I came home from work and started to prepare the last minute things for them to be ready for school today and as I looked for things that needed to be done I realized they had already taken care of everything. I really didn't have to do much of anything. It was a strange feeling and I'm not so sure I liked it. So, I retired to my room to relax and watch some tv and before long there was a knock at the door. It was my oldest who wanted me to cut his hair. Then throughout the night they continued to come to my room for little things that needed my attention and it felt good. Don't get me wrong I am so proud that they have learned to do things for themselves. I want them to be responsible and know how to take care of themselves. I just know there is a day coming when they won't be here at home and I won't be "needed" like this anymore. It was a little reminder to enjoy it while I can.

I can't wait to pick them up and see how their day went!

Thank You!

Otherwise Known as Mom over at the Shupeville Zoo honored me with the Versatile Blogger award last week and I'm just now getting around to thanking her properly and passing it on. Thanks so much for the award!!

If you aren't a follower of her blog you should go on over because she takes some awesome pictures and has a great sense of humor. I love reading her blog!

As I understand it the rules for this award are to list seven things about yourself...

1. I am very much an introvert. Being around a lot of people drains me. I must have alone time to recharge. I find it ironic that God has called my husband into the ministry and now I am a pastor's wife.

2. I just recently taught myself how to knit and I'm really enjoying it. When I told my husband that I wanted to learn to knit he laughed at me and said "you aren't old enough to do that." Now, he just calls me "old lady" when I'm knitting.

3. I am hoping to learn to crochet too in the not to distant future.

4. My husband is my best friend and greatest supporter (despite the fact that he laughed at me and my knitting). I don't know what I would do without him!

5. I hate to sweat. I really wanna love exercise but the sweating gets in the way.

6. Come November I will have three teenagers in the house. Did I mention I could use your prayers?

7. I love pictures and making scrapbooks. I need to carve out some time to work on them again soon!

Passing this award on to...

The rules say you are supposed to pass the award on to 15 of your favorite blogs. I chose to only do three because honestly, I'm out of time. I know you other busy wives and moms understand that. Oh, and I didn't just recently discover these either, I just enjoy them. I'm such a rule breaker!

And now, here's how to grab this award and pass on a smile to someone else....

1.  Thank and link back to the blogger who passed the award on to you.

2.  List seven things about yourself.

3.  Pass the award along to fifteen bloggers (or however many you choose) you have recently discovered and enjoy for some reason.

4.  Contact the bloggers you picked and let them know about the award.
